Cinnamon Sugar Bagel Chips with Yogurt Dip

bagel chips recipe

Every time I buy bagels, we eat a few right away then forget about the rest until I find them in the back of the fridge a couple weeks later. At this point, I usually cut them into chunks and make croutons (bagel croutons are super delicious, if you haven’t tried this before).

But the other day I needed a quick yet substantial snack and decided to turn a lingering bagel into sweet, cinnamon bagel chips. Now I’m tempted to make these again and again – they were so good and no harder than making a piece of toast.

You could eat these bagel chips on their own, but their crispy, dry texture almost begs for a dip of some kind. I happened to have a container of Stonyfield’s new Oh My Yog! Apple Cinnamon cream top yogurt in my fridge, and since this required no work at all I went for it. So. Incredibly. Good.

This yogurt is super creamy, and sweeter than the yogurt I normally eat (I almost always buy plain and mix with honey or jam) – so it makes an ideal dip.

As I crunched and dipped away, I thought about how this snack would be perfect for after school, for a packed lunch, or even for dessert. You could add a kick with a little cayenne, sprinkle ground ginger for more spice (then dip in the Gingered Pear Oh My Yog!), or use any range of bagel flavors. Next I want to try cranberry bagel chips dipped in the Orange Cranberry Oh My Yog!. Definitely adding this to my regular snack rotation 🙂
