Weight Loss Tip #3

healthy meals to freeze

Whenever you make a healthy dinner, freeze one or two portions for later.

This simple move will save you calories, money, and time. Before too long, your freezer will offer with a variety of healthy lunch and dinner options that you can grab and heat on your busiest days. With almost no extra effort, you can choose to eat a healthy home-cooked meal instead of restaurant food or take-out.

What freezes well?

Soups, stews, casseroles, pastas with sauce, enchiladas, burritos, quesadillas, quiche, or any other cooked dish you like.

How should food be stored?

Soups, stews, pastas, etc. should be stored in airtight containers. (Make sure to let the food cool first). Burritos, quesadillas, muffins, breads, and panini-style sandwiches should be cooled, wrapped in plastic wrap or wax paper and then stored in aluminum foil or an airtight container.

What’s the best way to reheat frozen food?

If possible, pull whatever you plan to eat out of the freezer and place in the fridge overnight. This tends to yield better texture and more even cooking. When you haven’t done this and want to eat a frozen item now, remove the lid and microwave until warm, then finish in the oven or on the stove for a fresh taste. (You can always just microwave too).
