Breakfast Fit for Both Mom and Baby

This is not the first time I’ve said it: feeding a baby can be hard work.  Shopping, prep, feeding, and clean-up is enough to necessitate a long nap for both baby and mom.  So I’m always looking for ways to make it easier and more enjoyable for everyone involved.  Often, this means feeding Lucy whatever Tyler and I are eating.  This removes several steps, and I like that she’s eating food that resembles…well…food!

For breakfast today, Lucy and I had plain yogurt mixed with oatmeal, thawed frozen berries, and bananas.  Her yogurt was Stonyfield’s YoBaby, and mine was low-fat plain.

Before we ate, I let Lu play around with the YoBaby…

Though she’s probably a genius, it was clear she didn’t quite get that the yogurt’s actually inside. But when it was time to eat, we both loved our breakfasts!

Couldn’t agree with this more! I love the Stonyfield yogurt for my little one too. She goes nuts when she sees the container. It’s too cute! A random question – is that a toy in the background of the last picture? It looks like something Lucy can climb on, if so I’m looking for something similar for Leah. 🙂

So cute that she gets excited when she sees the Yobaby container! What you’re seeing in the background is a HUGE stuffed caterpillar. Someone gave it to us along with The Very Hungry Caterpillar book. Lucy loves rolling around with it and stuffing its antennae in her mouth 🙂 Let me know if you’d like to know where it came from so you can get one for Leah!

What’s the difference between yoBaby and regular, plain yogurt?

YoBaby is simply organic plain whole milk yogurt (if you buy the “simply plain” flavor). It comes in small containers – but they are still a little big for most babies and in our house, we end up using a third or half at a time. You could easily buy any other kind of organic plain whole milk yogurt for your baby (and for you). I just recommend avoiding flavored yogurt — no need to give babies added sugar.
