Cilantro Chive Yogurt Dip

cilantro chive yogurt dip

A few years ago my friend Christa introduced me to the Cilantro Chive Yogurt Dip at Trader Joe’s. I was instantly obsessed.

This creamy dip was perfect with crunchy raw veggies, crackers, pita and even spread on wraps and sandwiches. It’s kind of like a grown up version of ranch, but with more flavor and tanginess.

But since the Trader Joe’s dip is not organic, I knew I eventually wanted to create my own organic version at home. (Since for me, buying organic dairy is a must).

So recently, when I spotted fresh cilantro and chives in my mom’s garden, I came up with the recipe below. Our whole family quickly gobbled up this dip with Late July chips (in the sweet potato and sea salt flavors) and fresh veggies. It was fabulous and easy enough to make a batch every week.

If you’re a Trader Joe’s Cilantro Chive Yogurt Dip fan – try this at home and you may never miss the store-bought stuff!

I love the freshness of cilantro and think it’s so funny when my hubby thinks it tastes like soap. I’ll be making this for myself and enjoy not having to share! Pinned to make on the weekend. Thanks!

Isn’t it so funny how the people who don’t like cilantro all think it tastes like soap? Must be some difference in tastebuds! I love it too 🙂

Love the versatility of this and probably amazing with other herbs, too. We aren’t cilantro fans in our home (both the husband and I are on team “soap”), but we would love this with a mix of other herbs, or even lemongrass!

Love Late July Sea Salt corn chips-can’t get enough! I usually make guacamole or salsa for them but since cilantro is also my thing I can’t wait to try your dip!!!

Hahaha, Team Soap! It would be fabulous with parsley or basil, too.

Yum, makes a great alternative to sour cream and chive dip, and much healthier! Thanks.

Great recipe Amelia! I too am a fan of the TJ’s version. I put it on fish, chicken sandwiches, etc. But now I’ve got to try your homemade version!

Cilantro tasting like soap is actually a genetic predisposition!

Hello! Do you have to add the mayonnaise? I noticed on the Trader Joe’s version there isn’t any. Thank you!

The mayo adds a creamy, rich mouthfeel and a little salt. But you could do all yogurt if you prefer more of a tang!

I know this is an older recipe… but thank you so much! It tastes just like it! Wow!

Funny enough I’ve done almost the exact same recipe, sans the Lemon zest, which now I’m going to have to try!! I add a sprinkle of Cayenne and use Penzey’s California Pepper, a great addition. Thanks for the Lemon tip!!
