Today many of us will be baking and decorating little ghosts, goblins, skeletons, spiders, witches, cats, bats and pumpkins.
Since all these cookies will inevitably get eaten, it’s important to use quality ingredients that allow your family members to indulge without exposing them to unwanted chemicals. This is pretty easy when you make everything from scratch, but when you look to grocery store shortcuts, it’s becomes a lot trickier.
Below are some of my favorite organic and natural products that make Halloween (or Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc.) baking easier, healthier and even more delicious.
Immaculate Baking Company Cookie Dough
In my pre-mom life, I always made sugar cookie dough from scratch. Now I just can’t find the time! Thankfully the Immaculate Baking Co. dough is super tasty and completely free of weird or artificial ingredients. They also offer gluten-free and organic versions (woohoo!)
Dr. Oetker’s Organic Icing Mix
Conventional tubs of prepared frosting are one of a few processed foods that still heavily rely on trans fat. Their other ingredients aren’t much better, as you can see here:
It’s definitely worth making frosting from scratch (which is super easy, actually) or choosing an organic brand. I like Dr. Oetker’s because it’s perfect for frosting sugar cookies, and all their ingredients are items you’d find in your kitchen cupboard anyway.
No matter how old I get or how much I learn about their ingredients, I just can’t shake my deep love for sprinkles. And really, what fun is cookie decorating without sprinkles and candy to stick on top?!
