Top 20 Foods to Buy at Costco

what to buy at costco

Like many of you, I’m a huge Costco fan.

But I have a feeling you’ll agree that it’s hard to leave the place without…

  1. spending a ton of money
  2. buying things you don’t need
  3. getting tempted by the latest goodie or packaged food

Right?!

So I always head to Costco with a list. A list of mostly healthy, whole-foods items that we eat with frequency. This helps me reduce our  costs, food waste and the number of impulse items I buy.

Here are 20 of the foods I frequently buy at Costco, most of which are available nationwide. Costco also stocks many amazing regional products but I made a point of listing items that are widely sold.

I’d love to hear your own favorites too!

Thanks for the heads-up about the Kerrygold — I was able to find that at my Costco last week. I also found a big bag of organic chia seeds, which is awesome because I eat chia pudding almost every morning for breakfast. I’m jealous of the baby kale at yours though; mine doesn’t have that one!

Try leaving a comment at your Costco requesting the baby kale (or Power Greens) – I know Earthbound can distribute nationally to Costco’s so your request could have an impact on what your local Costco stocks!

I bought the spicy avacado hummus and pumpkin flax granola based on your recommendations. Both are great! It is hard to commit to jumbo Costco sizes if you have not previously tried something but I trust your taste and it paid off! I regularly buy at least 2 bags of the Late July multigrain chips per Costco run. I am a big fan of the Kalamata olives, organic evoo, and the whole feta blocks. The frozen individually wrapped talapia and salmon are so convenient. My seasonal favorite is a fig goat cheese-yum!!!

So true about “committing” to a Costco product – you really have to be confident you’ll like it if it’s something new! Glad you liked the granola and hummus! Mmmm…the feta is my fave too 🙂

I first came across you blog through this post and have been a sunscriber since. I really like your no nonsense approach to shopping for food and cooking. My husband is a price wizzard: he calculates faster than most ( including me ) and knows instantly if something is worth the price or the commitment at Costco or elsewhere. I should come upe my own list one day… You inspired me. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you so much, Deelanee. Your compliments really mean a lot to me! I’m like your husband – so hopefully he’ll approve of my lists 😉
