Find a community.
Losing weight requires effort. There are frequent hurdles to jump over. It can be trying at times. And it’s nearly impossible to do alone.
So one of the best ways to ensure your success is to find some support. A community of any kind – be it a formal one like Weight Watchers, my Lose the Baby Weight program (which starts later this month!), a sports team, etc. OR an informal one: a few friends, your family members, a morning walking buddy, – is an essential tool for getting through the challenges and staying on track. It also makes working toward your goals more FUN!
If you’ve already begun a Get-Healthy-In-The-New-Year plan, but have done so thus far alone, make a point to find some people with similar goals. Connect with them, work together to make a plan for how you’ll support each other, then rely on them when you’re feeling like you want to give up. You’ll be astonished how helpful your newfound community can be.
And, with that, Weight Loss Week has come to a close. I’ll post a wrap-up tomorrow then we’ll be on our “weigh” (ha!) to long-term weight loss success!

January 24, 2013 at 8:04 amI wish I had had a community when I was losing my 100 pounds! It was very lonely to take on such a big feat by myself but I did it. This was long before I knew about the blog world or online weight loss support groups. If I had to do it all again, I’d definitely try them!
That being said, I kind of made up my own community. My friends and family were very supportive of my weight loss and several started their own journey to health when they saw me losing weight and eating healthy!
