Both my dad and husband love hot dogs. When I ask them to request a meal for their birthdays or Father’s Day, it’s a given at least one of them will ask for hot dogs.
But as many of us know, conventional processed meats can be a little scary. So when heeding the requests of my favorite fathers, I’m careful to choose hot dogs that most closely resemble real food. I look for brands I really trust and ingredients I can understand.
Applegate makes my favorite hot dog – The Great Organic Hot Dog – but a few other brands offer tasty & sustainably-produced options too. Below is a list of the best hot dogs for summer. By “the best,” I mean the most natural, humanely-farmed hot dogs that still taste just like you want them to…namely, delicious!
Heritage Foods – any sausage or kielbasa they offer

June 20, 2013 at 10:02 amTurkey burgers are probably my favorite bbq food. Just tried the Applegate Farms uncured chicken hot dogs for the first time yesterday. Loved ’em! Our daughter has food allergies and we love that, in addition to being a healthier choice, almost all of the AF products are safe for our family.
